Upstate Forever Interns

Meet Our Interns!

We are fortunate to have two outstanding interns working with us in our Greenville office – Stephanie Wagner (on left) and Jacquelyn Fehler, both of whom are students in Clemson’s graduate program in City and Regional Planning.

You probably remember Jacquelyn. She worked as our first Administrative Assistant and developed such a strong interest in conservation and growth-related issues that she entered the Clemson program. She has conducted many hours of research on regional planning throughout the country and is assisting us in our efforts to promote a similar project in the Upstate.

Originally from Boston, Stephanie moved to Greenville in 2003 and last year became one of our great volunteers. She has assisted us on a variety of projects and is playing a key role in preparing for our annual conference in April. In the six years since Upstate Forever was founded, we have had more than 20 bright,
energetic and talented student interns working with us. Beginning with this issue of our newsletter, we will feature one and let you know what he or she is
doing today.

Katie Dunson:
Where Is She Now?

Our very first intern was Katie Dunson, a Spartanburg native who worked here during the winter term of 1999 while a senior at Furman University.

After graduating from Furman, Katie obtained her law degree from the University of South Carolina and now works with the Gallivan, White & Boyd law firm in Greenville where she concentrates in administrative law. And she’s a newlywed, having married David Phipps last month.

Of her time with us, Katie says, “It was a great experience. I learned how important it is for us to protect our natural resources and plan for growth.”
