Upstate Forever’s 2nd Annual Preservation Ride cycling event on September 14 was a huge success! We were pleased to have 158 bicycle riders come out on the beautiful, late summer morning at Strawberry Hill USA to show their support for conservation by riding one of our three carefully chosen routes that travel through Northern Spartanburg County. The 40 mile and 75 mile riders were even treated to a loop through The Greenspace of Fairview, Upstate Forever’s largest easement. The feedback on the ride has been impressive, and plans are underway for an even bigger event next year!
The ride would not have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors: GE, The Palmetto Bank, Meritus Signature Homes, The Greenville Drive, Phifer Johnson Foundation, Maddrey and Associates, Trek, Whole Foods, Square One, The Greenspace of Fairview, Hincapie Sportswear, Strawberry Hill USA, The City of Greer, Allegra, Bike Law, Bike Street USA, Earth Fare, The Great Escape, Max Building Performance, Brown Arrow Technology, Palmetto Cycling Coalition, REI, Spartanburg Water, Wayfinder and Wild Earth Landscaping. Thank you, all!
We also want to thank our wonderful volunteers who ensured that everyone stayed safe and had fun: Linda Hutton, Georgianne Barlow, Ann McCord, Dale Willingham, Ben Ivan, Dick Carr, Keri Moore, Allan Lazenby and Melida Ehlen.
