Erika Hollis
Urban Rivers Project Associate
Erika received a BS in Natural Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MS in Water Resource Management from Indiana University. During her Master's studies she spent a semester studying International Water Management in The Netherlands.
Erika most recently worked as a Watershed Manager for the Juniata Watershed in Central Pennsylvania. Prior to that, Erika spent five years as an Associate Researcher at the Great Lakes Water Institute (GLWI) studying the impacts of bacterial pollution on Lake Michigan and associated tributaries in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While at GLWI Erika was active educating the public on the impacts of stormwater on water quality and co-authored six peer-reviewed publications. Erika also worked as a Watershed Specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources overseeing stormwater demonstration projects (i.e rain gardens) throughout Milwaukee County. In addition, she spent time in the Pacific Northwest where she served as an AmeriCorps volunteer on the Olympic Peninsula conducting field research on alpine lakes, small mammal, and amphibian populations and helped restore salmonid stream habitats.
Erika moved to Greenville in the summer of 2008 with her husband, daughter, and Siberian husky. She enjoys hiking, gardening, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. Erika is excited to use her skills and experiences to help protect and restore water quality in the Upstate region.
