Jason Van Driesche

Jason
Van Driesche grew up in western Massachusetts. He received a BA
in Community, Regional, and Environmental Studies from Bard College
in 1993. From 1994 to 1996, he was a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama,
where he trained elementary school teachers in environmental education.
He received an MS in environmental studies and a second MS in urban
and regional planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in
2003. He is the author with his father, Roy Van Driesche, of a book
on invasive species entitled Nature Out of Place: Biological
Invasions in the Global Age (published by Island Press
in 2000), and has authored a number of articles on conservation
and invasive species for Conservation in Practice and other journals.
Jason is married to Susan Munkres, an assistant professor of sociology at Furman University. Their daughter Amelia, born in August 2006, is one of Upstate Forever's youngest members. They live in Greenville's North Main neighborhood, from which Jason rides his bike to work every day.
