Parks & Open Space Initiative

     Key to a community's active living conditions is the accessibility and quality of parks and open spaces. According to the current Spartanburg County Comprehensive Plan, Spartanburg County has a "severe deficit of parks."

Without sufficient funds dedicated to parks programs, Spartanburg County residents lack facilities and the County is often unable to properly maintain existing parks.

Upstate Forever Spartanburg is currently working with County and City officials, businesses, builders, developers and interested citizens to explore possible sources of revenue for acquiring and protecting lands for public parks and open spaces.
