- Our Work
- Get Involved
Our Greenville and Spartanburg offices have closed while Upstate Forever staff work from home to help protect the health of each other, our families, and our communities. But while we are not together in the office, we remain together in our continued efforts to protect our region's critical lands, waters, and unique character.
Born in St. Petersburg, FL, Em graduated from Erskine College with a B.A. in Psychology and pursued a career in Human Resources.
After moving to Greenville in 1991 with her husband Neil, Em became involved in various community organizations. Her volunteer efforts included Meals on Wheels where she was a designated spokesperson, a member of the Training Team for the Junior League of Greenville, a PTA Executive Board member, President of the Greenville County Legal Auxiliary, a Victim Witness volunteer for the Solicitor’s office, a Board Member of the Due West Retirement Center, and a Board Member of the Carolinian Debutante Club. She was also active in church, serving as President of the Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Women of the Church and as a Sunday School teacher and Small Group youth leader at First Presbyterian.
Her two oldest children are Clemson University graduates and her youngest is a current Clemson sophomore.
Em and Neil fulfilled a long-time dream when they moved to their Lake Keowee home in Salem, SC in 2017. This summer, she hiked the entire 77-mile Foothills Trail. In addition, Em has hiked to all 31 waterfalls in South Carolina and shares her love of hiking with numerous family, friends, and neighbors throughout the year. Em enjoys all water sports including wake surfing, skiing, wake boarding, and boating. She is a member of the Foothills Trail Conservancy, Friends of Lake Keowee Society, and Friends of Jocassee.
