Join us for an invasive species workday on Thursday, November 7 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Upper Shoals at Glendale protected property in Spartanburg!
Event details: In partnership with The Tyger River Foundation and Audubon South Carolina, Upstate Forever will host an invasive management workday to improve habitat for neotropical migratory birds at the Upper Shoals at Glendale property on the Tyger River in Spartanburg. During this workday, volunteers will help with the removal of the invasive shrub Autumn Olive (Elaeanus umbellata) from the understory of the property. This work will support post-hurricane recovery efforts at the Glendale property as disturbance opens up new windows for invasive species establishment.
What to wear and bring: Participants should wear long pants, close-toed shoes and gear that you don't mind getting dirty in. We will provide tools and gloves, but volunteers are more than welcome to bring their favorite gardening gloves or loppers.
Meeting location: Wofford College Goodall Environmental Studies Center, located at 351 Broadway St, Glendale, SC 29346
