Dr. Dave Hargett was the inaugural chair of the Upstate Forever board from 1998 until 2003, in addition to serving as a key partner in the Saluda-Reedy Watershed Coalition. Dr. Hargett's experience also includes serving as an original member of the Friends of Reedy Board from 1993-2000 and as its first Executive Director; Co-Founder of Conestee Foundation and Executive Director of Lake Conestee Nature Preserve from 1999-2020; environmental consultant from 1976-present; former adjunct faculty and Senior Scholar, Clemson University; and Emeritus Boards of National Wildlife Federation and South Carolina Wildlife Federation.
