Streambank repair

Upstate Forever's Clean Water team has worked with partners to restore eroded streambanks and educate landowners about the importance of strong, healthy banks to local water quality.

Collaborative restoration

In 2021, we partnered with Clemson Extension and the City of Greer to repair a portion of the Brushy Creek stream bank in Century Park. Hundreds of livestakes from elderberry, black willow, and silky willow trees; beautyberry and swamp sunflower; plants and native seed mixes; and erosion control matting were installed.

Hands on education

Hands-on education

In 2023, we hosted an educational workshop for homeowners, park staff, and landscape professionals looking to address unhealthy streambanks suffering from erosion and instability.

This workshop, presented in partnership with Clemson Extension, highlighted practices to help stabilize and revegetate streambanks through the hands-on installation of erosion control mats and planting livestakes.
