Grant Meadow

57 acres | Pickens County

Nestled at the base of Table Rock and hugging Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway 11, Grant Meadow is considered one of South Carolina's most-photographed spots. After placing a conservation easement on 36 acres in 2013, landowner Hoyt Grant further protected this iconic pasture with a conservation easement on an addition 21-acre parcel in 2020.

Project funders include the South Carolina Conservation Bank.

Hoyt Grant and his late wife Laura, owners of this beloved property, felt strongly about preserving the meadow’s beauty and long distance views for generations to come.

“My dad had acquired this property in 1950. I took an interest in it early on helping clear it and fence it for pasture land, which started my appreciation and love for this land. Being close to Table Rock State Park, my family enjoyed spending time and making memories there," Hoyt said. "I was able to acquire the additional 21 acres from my brother before he passed away ... and I knew I wanted to keep it protected for the future. The view is a favorite photo spot for visitors young and old, and I feel very blessed to have a part in protecting its beauty.”

Grant Meadow will continue to be managed as a hay meadow, ensuring its iconic view remains unobstructed. A paved overlook and seating were added by Pickens County in 2022 to offer travelers a place to park and enjoy the meadow's idyllic beauty.
