We are hiring a Clean Water Manager to lead and implement strategic initiatives benefiting water quality and resources across the Upstate.
Stretching across the Anderson–Oconee County line, Snow Hill Farm is a 311-acre working landscape protected through a donated conservation easement with Upstate Forever.
Conserved after seven years of collaboration with the King family, the property protects productive farmland, managed forests, vital waterways, and the rural character of one of the Upstate’s historic agricultural corridors.

Snow Hill Farm consists of eight contiguous tracts that have long supported agriculture and forestry. Approximately 90 acres are maintained as pasture and hayfields, while more than 200 acres remain forested, including managed stands of loblolly pine, shortleaf pine, oak, and naturally regenerating hardwoods.
The landowners have enacted a Forest Stewardship Plan focused on establishing and managing a healthy working forest, protecting local waterways and water quality, and improving habitat for wildlife throughout the property.

Snow Hill Farm includes nearly two miles of streams and riparian habitat, including more than 10,000 linear feet along Cleveland Creek, Beaverdam Creek, and several tributaries that flow toward Lake Hartwell less than a mile downstream.
These waterways and surrounding hardwood forests provide important habitat for wildlife while helping filter runoff and protect regional water quality. Forested riparian buffers and wetlands throughout the property contribute to the health of the broader Lake Hartwell watershed.
Snow Hill Farm has been in the King family for generations and includes the historic family homesite dating back to the 1800s. Following the passing of their parents, four brothers — Ron, Charles, Jim, and Robert King — worked together to permanently protect the land through a fully donated conservation easement.
Nearby conserved lands strengthen the property’s conservation impact and help create a connected network of working lands and natural habitat across the region. Located just north of I-85, the property sits within a rapidly changing region experiencing increasing development pressure. Conserving Snow Hill Farm helps maintain the agricultural identity and open landscapes that define this corner of Anderson and Oconee Counties.
Conservation easements are a voluntary, permanent way landowners can protect special places from development. For more information about partnering with UF to conserve your property, please contact our nationally-accredited Land Trust at landtrust@upstateforever.org.
