Join us for an invasive species workday on Thursday, November 13 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Upper Shoals at Glendale protected property in Spartanburg!
Wofford College Goodall Environmental Studies Center, located at 351 Broadway St, Glendale, SC 29346
In partnership with The Tyger River Foundation and Audubon South Carolina, Upstate Forever will host an invasive management workday to improve habitat for neotropical migratory birds at the Upper Shoals at Glendale property on Lawsons Fork Creek in Spartanburg. During this workday, volunteers will help with the removal of the invasive shrub Autumn Olive (Elaeanus umbellata) from the understory of the property. This work will support post-hurricane recovery efforts at the Glendale property as disturbance opens up new windows for invasive species establishment.
Participants should wear long pants, close-toed shoes and gear that you don't mind getting dirty in. We will provide tools and gloves, but volunteers are more than welcome to bring their favorite gardening gloves or loppers. Many hands make light work — we hope to see you there!
Refreshments will be provided. Carpool if able. The number of volunteers for this workday is capped at 30.
You can make sure you're in-the-know about upcoming volunteer workdays and other opportunities to engage with our work by signing up to receive our monthly email newsletter.
