Stewardship Manager
Boone Ruston has a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Ecology and a working background in environmental consulting, GIS, water treatment, habitat restoration, and conservation. He is focused on protecting and managing natural resources to improve watershed health and the long-term recovery of degraded habitats. His experience includes federal and state agency permitting, ecological field work, GIS data collection and mapping, and aquatic resource quality assessments. He has conducted conservation projects using geospatial data, regulatory frameworks, and practical habitat management.
Boone is particularly interested in conservation stewardship and long-term ecosystem rehabilitation practices. His goal is to focus on building relationships with landowners and supporting the sustainable management of conservation areas. He brings a strong technical skillset, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to advancing conservation goals at Upstate Forever.
When off work, Boone enjoys biking, fly fishing, reading and writing, traveling, trail running, and backpacking. When the weather doesn't cooperate, he is content to stay indoors and tie flies or tinker with bikes while a podcast plays in the background.
