Latest Greenville B-cycle installation brings the bike share network to 10 stations - July 28th 2017

Greenville B-cycle installed its tenth publicly-accessible bike station this week in front of the new Link Apartments West End. The new station brings Greenville’s bike-share network to a total of 10 stations – the target number identified by partners Upstate Forever and Greenville Health System (GHS) when the program first launched less than five years ago. The station installation was completed with support from GHS and Grubb Properties, owners of Link Apartments West End.

“The installation of our tenth bike station is a milestone for Greenville B-cycle and will be a great asset for residents of Link Apartments West End into the future,” said Greenville B-cycle Program Director Lisa Hallo. “We have been steadily growing the system since its launch in Spring 2013 and are happy to report that ridership is higher this year than any other so far.”

A partnership of local conservation group Upstate Forever and Greenville Health System (GHS), the program surpassed 15,000 rides this month. According to GHS Community Relations Coordinator Rebecca Cooper, “We are happy to see Greenville B-cycle growing. The program has become what we always imagined it would for the community – a convenient and affordable way for residents to get active – whether they are biking for recreation, exercise or active transportation.”

According to Laura White, Director of Marketing with Grubb Properties, plans have been in the works for some time to locate a station near Link Apartments West End. “From the start we had hoped we’d be able to locate a Greenville B-cycle station near Link Apartments West End. We are very pleased that we were able to partner with Greenville B-cycle to make that happen and offer our residents another great amenity,” said White.

Greenville B-cycle offers adult-sized bicycles that members can check out and return at conveniently located stations: Caine Halter Family YMCA, City Hall, County Square, Fluor Field, Greenville Transit Center, Greenville Zoo, Hughes Main Library, Link Apartments West End, NEXT Innovation Center, and at the corner of College and North Main Street.
