Celebrate Earth Month with our community cleanup challenge!

April 1st, 2022

Our Earth Month Community Cleanup Challenge is back!

Whether you pick up trash while taking the dog for a stroll or hitting the trail, we can all make a big difference to help beautify the Upstate and keep litter out of our greenspaces and water sources. Snap a photo while out cleaning up and share it with us for your chance to win weekly prizes or a grand prize to be awarded at the end of April!

To participate:

Head out and clean up.

You can pick up waste in your neighborhood, local park, trails, or other outdoor space you visit during April.

Snap and share a photo or video.

Take a picture of yourself while picking up litter or a video on your trek. Share it with us by April 30 by tagging @upstateforever and using the hashtag #CleanUpstateForever on your preferred social media platform (and if you haven't yet, please like or follow us on Instagram, FacebookTwitter, or TikTok).

If you’d prefer email, you can send photos to mburton@upstateforever.org.

You can be among the first to have our brand new Upstate Forever t-shirts featuring work from local artist Carissa Grace.

Each participant will be entered to win a weekly drawing to win a shirt, and you’ll be entered to win the grand prize drawing on May 1 that will include an SC State Parks All Park Passport ($99 value) and 3 fine art prints from Carissa Grace.

Safety tips:

  • Wear medical or gardening gloves while handling waste, or use a grabber tool.
  • Don't pick up any items that make you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
  • Avoid touching your face or public surfaces after handling trash. Wash hands thoroughly afterward.

You are participating in this Virtual Cleanup Challenge at your own risk. By participating, you agree Upstate Forever is not responsible for any injury suffered and you waive any claim arising from participation in the event.
