This online, interactive course is designed to help Greenville residents, business owners, and neighborhood leaders understand processes that drive local planning and land use policy decisions, as well as the roles and perspectives of diverse stakeholders. Eight one-hour lunch and learn-style sessions will take place over Zoom beginning on Wednesdays in April.

Next Monday, January 25, at 5:30 pm Greenville City Council will host a public hearing on GVL2040, the City's draft comprehensive plan. We'll be there to voice our support! We'll urge Council to adopt the plan as drafted and encourage immediate action following adoption on the plan's prioritized "must do" check list for 2021-22. Click here to read the GVL2040 Executive Summary or here to access the full GVL2040 plan where you can find the "must do" check list for 2021-22 on page 75. Click here for information to join the meeting virtually or in-person at a remote viewing location.
Also on Monday, City Council will vote on the proposed tree ordinance. In a vote at first reading of the ordinance on January 11, Council rejected a proposed exemption that would have limited the ordinance's effectiveness in halting loss of tree canopy in residential neighborhoods — where most of the city's remaining tree canopy is located. You can read more about that here and here. We anticipate (but don't take for granted) final adoption on Monday of the ordinance Council advanced at first reading.
