Have you ever wondered how things get built in Greenville? Would you like to understand the role of the planning commission and city council in Greenville’s planning processes? Do you want to know how and why we should plan for future development that is 5, 10, or 15 years away?
Coming this fall, Upstate Forever’s Citizens Planning Academy is an interactive 4-week course designed to help Greenville residents, business owners, and neighborhood leaders become more effective and influential participants in City of Greenville planning and land use policy efforts.
Participants in the 4-week course — dates and details below — will learn about a variety of planning and development topics, such as the history of planning, how development projects come together, and how to get involved in planning issues in your community. The course will also feature both formal presentations and interactive group exercises. Presenters and speakers include City staff, professional planners, and other built environment professionals, such as architects, developers, and builders.
Attendance is required at each of the four weekly sessions:
Wednesday, October 9 — 5:30 – 8:00 pm
Wednesday, October 16 — 5:30 – 8:00 pm
Wednesday, October 23 — 5:30 – 8:00 pm
Wednesday, October 30 — 5:30 – 8:00 pm
All sessions will take place at the Community Room in Greenville Water’s Operations Building located at 517 West Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601. A light meal will be served at the beginning of each session.
The cost to participate in the Fall 2019 series is $35. Details about payment will be shared upon acceptance. If this cost is prohibitive, a limited number of scholarships are available.
